This app is fabulous covering all aspects of learning to tell the time. It suits beginners through to advanced. Well thought out with every possible variation and beautifully illustrated with excellent features - top class App in every way!
There are 4 main categories each designed to teach the important aspects to telling the time. These same categories are applied to several different levels, each more complex than the next. The same categories throughout this keeps continuity for your child.
Within the "settings" you can increase the levels to include 1 hour, 30 minute, 15 minute, 5 minute and 1 minute intervals. This is an excellent feature as you can progress with your child as they learn and gain confidence. You can also change the clock style to include minutes and hours, Roman numerals and the 24 hour clock.
This App really has it all. You can choose to have the jungle sounds, animal sounds, or voice on or off. The questions are asked by a child so the App is completely non-threatening to your child. With the voice on your child gets to HEAR the time as they set the clock face, this helps them to know if they are right or not. If you choose to hear the voice then no reading is required. You can also set the voice to say either "ten fifteen " or "quarter past ten" depending on your preference. As if all that wasn't already fabulous, the app is convertible into 13 different languages!!!
To add a little bit of extra fun your child can choose from 6 different animals to place in the centre of their clocks, a nice touch for little one's! These animals make an appropriate celebratory sound when your child gets the question right and they smile too! Every 5 questions right brings up all the happy smiling faces of the animals along with a well done, this is very motivational.
One additional feature helps your child to understand how the 'clock' (time) actually works by showing how it the hands move around CLOCKWISE. You can select the hour hand, minute hand, tell the time and add more options.
This is a added touch which will really help if your child needs to 'understand' the concept of time more clearly.
Reading is only required when you turn off the voices.
